The world of Sound Voltex comes to the hit indie rhythm game, Friday Night Funkin' (FNF)! For this project, I had to draw and animate a bunch of characters, backgrounds, and UI to all match the visual style of an early internet flash game. After studying the methods of FNF's lead artist, I pulled out Adobe Animate and my trusty drawing tablet, and ended up with my first foray into 'snap-to' animation, in the form of a mod for a game!
Over the course of this project, I've worked with several talented visionaries and coders to bring this mod to life. A great video demonstration of the game can be found here, for the first release. The game can also be downloaded and played for free here! There are countless videos on it, and our mod has become very popular!
Sound Voltex and all characters are ©KONAMI.
In-game Sprites
Each pose is for when they sing one of the 4 directional notes. I packed as much emotion into these poses as I could!
Bi び
This bee girl sporadically sings at the player. Too hyper to touch the ground!
Rasis
A gentle idol that loves to sing. The first human character that I animated for this.
Tamaneko
The cat-ball mascot of Sound Voltex. The first opponent to challenge the player.
Tamaneko Dark
Palette-swap of Tamaneko, with darker colors and a more angular mouth.
Background Tama+Rasis
Two stacked images of Rasis and Tamaneko float in the background.
Near & Noah
Made for a fan continuation project. I was busy at the time, so this is less polished.
Dialogue Sprites
Quick, budgeted animated portraits that I cranked out in a day.

Font Edits
I had to actually go in and edit two fonts to have the び symbol for one of the song names.
